Call for Paper: “How do we play this thing?”: Videogames and History

This special section in International Public History (IPH) will investigate, reflect on, critique, and expand on the history of videogames and how it is communicated.
We invite articles on subjects such as: how scholars investigate the history of videogames; how is that history communicated; how is this medium showcased or exhibited, would it be in museums, online, or elsewhere; how do scholars investigate and use videogames as primary sources; how do scholars talk of games tackling difficult knowledge and can we use them to teach history; the history of a particular game or game series, etc.
Contributors must send a 250-word abstract and 50-word biographical statement to Dany Guay-Bélanger at email@example.com
The results of the CFP will be announced no later than November 15, 2020.
Full articles (4000-5000 words) should be sent to the editors by April 1, 2021 and the projected
appearance of the special issue is Summer 2021.
