Michel Kobelinski Elected and Ratified as IFPH Secretary

The International Federation of Public History is pleased to announce that Michel Kobelinski has been elected and ratified as Secretary of the IFPH.

Michel Kobelinski is a public historian and permanent professor in the Master’s Program in Public History at UNESPAR. His work focuses on museums, oral history, and heritage education, with a strong commitment to fostering inclusive dialogue between academia and communities. Throughout his career, he has advanced public memory, museums, heritage, and public art as tools for social engagement.

He began his research career in anthropology and museology, contributing to the development of the anthropological collection at the Iguaçu Regional Museum. This early experience shaped his understanding of the social role of heritage and the importance of including vulnerable communities in museological practice. His work continues to integrate teaching, research, and community action, transforming historical knowledge into resources for social inclusion and citizen participation. He is actively involved with the Brazilian Network of Museum Educators (NME-BR; NME-PR) and regularly develops educational and public curation projects in museum settings.

Kobelinski is an active member of both the Brazilian and Latin American Public History Networks (RBHP and REDLAHP) and participates regularly in national and international events. He has also contributed to public history publishing, serving on the editorial team of Public History Weekly (2022–2023) and as a columnist for Boletim Tak, published by the House of Polish Culture Brazil, where he explores the identity, culture, and memory of Polish descendants and immigrants in Brazil.

In 2025, he co-authored the book Reason and Sensibilities in Selected Works of Saint-Pierre with Ioana Galleron (Université Paris 8), published by the Centre-West State University Press (UNICENTRO). The book examines the relationship between literature and public dissemination, with particular attention to the Portuguese translation of The Indian Shack.

In his statement of interest, Kobelinski expressed his enthusiasm for serving as Secretary of the IFPH and for supporting the federation’s mission to promote inclusive, community-oriented, and interdisciplinary approaches to public history worldwide. He highlighted the importance of strengthening international collaboration and expanding engagement through digital platforms.

As Secretary, Michel Kobelinski brings extensive experience in organizational communication, digital initiatives, and community-based public history. He now joins the IFPH leadership committed to fostering a more connected, accessible, and globally engaged public history community.
